Nightingale

A dark and moody 1990s hero, partnered with Sunbird.

Equipment

In addition to being a skilled acrobat and martial artist, she can project a mist-like field of darkness. As Sunbird is the superpowered half of the team, this would seem to be a function built into Nightingale's costume rather than a bona fide power.

Speculations, Theories

It's wildly speculated that Nightingale and Sunbird are lesbians, but they neither confirm nor deny the allegations. It has also been speculated that they are sisters or even mother and daughter.

Besides being partner to Sunbird, it seems that Nightingale and most of the street level heroes of Astro City seem to associate with each other quite a bit. In many of their appearances they seem to mention or joke about one another -- Crackerjack, Jack-in-the-Box, Quarrel II, Sunbird and Nightingale and you might throw Street Angel into the mix as well as the Irregulars.
