The Gentleman

A powerful, immaculate and unfailingly-polite tuxedo clad hero active in Astro City, apparently un-aging, since the early 1940s. He is a charming personality, displaying wholesome, old fashioned sensibilities and extremely good manners. In short, a perfect Gentleman. He serves as a spokesman for the Stay-In-School Foundation, the March of Dimes, and Unicef.

History

In the 1950s, The Gentleman had a sidekick, The Young Gentleman

Powers

The Gentleman possesses the powers of flight and super-strength, both of which he exhibits while stabilizing an out-of-control helicopter during a battle with the cosmic entity Thunderhead. The Gentleman also has a very slow aging process (quite possibly nonexistant). He appears to have not aged a day since his first public appearance in the 1940s.

Speculations, Theories

There is some speculation that his powers might have some kind of mystical or magic basis. He, along with the Confessor and The Hanged Man, who both have mystic powers, were not apprehended by authorities during the Enelsian Invasion.

The story In the Spotlight, he exhibited considerable emotional concerns, perhaps an almost elevated level of fear towards Professor Borzoi's belief ray which brought Loony Leo to life. Perhaps there is some back-story material that will be further explored in future adventures.

His friendly yet rugged good looks show creative influences derived from the actor Fred MacMurray.
