Altar Boy

Altar Boy[edit]

There isnt' exactly a blueprint for how to become a super-hero, but Brian Kinney has a plan. A high risk decision to move to Astro City, an area saturated with superheroes. There he hopes to mingle and learn, and with luck perhaps a chance as a side-kick or assistant to an already established mask. It's not like it hasn't happened before. His break comes sooner than he expected. The fact that the it was the Confessor making the offer, well that just made it all the more interesting.

American Chibi[edit]

She's loud, she's super-strong, she's naive and innocent. She's a do-gooder, she's energetic, but mainly she's just LOUD!

She's relatively new to the Astro City super-hero scene, but despite(or because of) her naivety, she is proving to be a very accomplished doer of good deeds.

Her powers source from her mystic hair scrunchies, and that's just part of her strange and perplexing origin. All that aside, she is becoming a well known fixture. Her solo adventures are making headlines, and her involvement with high profile peers like Samaritan, Honor Guard, and others is impressive. She's got spunk!

Crackerjack[edit]

He has a cavalier, almost careless attitude towards crime-fighting. He doesn't strike one as being strongly passionate, or motivated by some kind of mission. Yet he is somehow, almost surprisingly, one of the most effective, popular and enduring of Astro City's superheroes. So what motivates him? Why does he do what he does? Risking so much for what would seem to be just the fun of catching crooks. Is it the excitement, the attention, the sense of being center stage? Most intriguing of all, what has kept him doing it for so long?

Dame Progress[edit]

One of the most incredible, absolutely amazing, stunningly beautiful battles of all time occurred on a cold winter's night over 100 years ago. Astro City was still called Romeyn Falls in those days. Along with trolley cars and horses, a rarely seen heroine by the name of Dame Progress wandered the city. Her weaponry and vehicles are finely crafted, state of the art instruments. She had a target that particular night, a target that was interfering with a special mission. The target, was a gentleman named...

The Hanged Man[edit]

Beware the Hanged Man's gaze. It is rare for him to acknowledge your presence, much less look upon you. A Gaze from him usually means a troubling future awaits you. Think of it perhaps as a warning that you are approaching a fateful crossroads in your life. A time of more than just change, but also one of great revelation, enlightenment or perhaps a salvation. Maybe you are nearing a crisis moment, one you may not survive.

Here is the look that he gave to ordinary citizen, Michael Tenicek. If you are curious about why, you can read about it here...

Jack-in-the-Box[edit]

Jack-in-the-Box has been an active agent against crime for decades now. His colorful exploits and cavalier fighting style continue to captivate and delight the citizens of Astro City. Especially the youth from the poorer, economically challenged neighborhoods. Jack defends their turf on a regular basis, he seems to be "one-of-them" in many ways. Most of his battles are with street thugs and the lower tier costumed villains; those more interested in get rich schemes rather than world conquering aspirations. He has a long list of adversaries, a gallery of rogues villains, equally as colorful and original as himself. But on occasions, some of the strangest characters cross his path, and the encounters can be downright bizarre.

Loony Leo[edit]

In the 1940s, Fago's Funny Features was a small animation company that created many cartoon characters, including Loony Leo. These cartoons were distributed to movie theaters and shown as shorts before the main feature film. The Loony Leo cartoons featured Leo, his rascally nephews, and Leo's romance with Lola the lioness.

Monstro City[edit]

Monstro City's citizens vary widely in form, color, size, appendages, organs, and other bodily parts and pieces. Looking not so much like one species within a very narrow range of DNA encoding, but instead, almost like multiple species, with a very broad and dynamic DNA "footprint." They are still very much a part of the hominid branch, but they seem to stretch the genetic extremes to their limits. They (some? most? all?) can (and do) produce offspring from homo sapient relationships. For all intents and purposes they are human. To date, no published Astro City stories have studied their ancestry and DNA makeup in depth.

The transit suffused him with "empyrean fire," giving him enormous physical power as well as the ability to project an "empyrean web."

Samaritan has been a member of the elite superhero team Honor Guard since at least 1991. He is in a romantic relationship with Winged Victory and yes, it is complicated.

The Silver Adept

The Silver Adept[edit]

She's one of Astro City’s most powerful mystic heroes. A newspaper article among the Broken Man's odd and mysterious collection details the heroine Silver Adept's recent move to Astro City and her assisting the Honor Guard in their battle with Mister Mystoro. But that is just part of her very hectic life style. She is so busy being an "adept" authority on all things mystical, she even has a small staff assisting her.

Stockton and Moreton
They're not cats (that's for sure) and they're not exactly dogs. But they are something cute, sensitive, friendly and while not demonstrated yet, no doubt very protective. Not sure which is Stockton and which is Moreton. Except for color and perhaps gender, they source from the same species. Silver Agent

Silver Agent[edit]

He burst upon Astro City and the world in the late 1950s. Part of a growing wave of good masks dedicated to protecting society from the bad masks. Only one problem, sometimes society in its desire to see things in simple terms like win or lose, and black and white, overlook the human aspects behind the masks, showing little to no appreciation for their efforts, especially during the bad times. The Silver Agent, more so than any other good mask, endured those harsh judgements, and during the Dark Age of Astro City they peaked...
