Merging pages into one single page for each sub-category

I have built a very basic wikitable on a page called Neighborhoods. That page will replace the sub-catergory Neighborhoods, and all the pages that are in the sub-category Neighborhoods will be reconstructed in row entries in the basic wikitable on that page.

To get the ball rolling, I have migrated a few as examples. Please migrate the rest and put any new entries/information there. Add columns if you feel the need arises.

Feel free to start a page for each of the other sub-topics listed here (ex:Streets). Use similar very basic wikitables. [1]

A more elegant and pleasing page layout will be forthcoming as time permits, and as we firm up the common kinds of data that populate the tables. Hopefully it will also be template driven so we can mask the layout code from the content.

Neighborhoods (or some of them at least) were some that seemed like would warrant their own page more than say streets and businesses with a one off mention. I like the idea and the set up greatly, but think some pages, maybe Shadow Hill, Beefy Bob's, etc. would still have enough to have their own entries, as well on the list.

And maybe keep the pages, instead of deleting them, as redirects to the list, so we don't have a lot of red text or have to go back and fix every mention.--Astrozac (talk) 12:46, 18 October 2013 (PDT)

Red links will be fixed with #hashmarks(here) and running some 'bot code to clean things(sitewide). I was iffy on a couple of entries at first. Upon review, given how brief they are, -- even important entries like Shadow Hills-- they will still work and eventually look nice on that single page. It will be a much more enticing reading experience instead of all the clicking we are forcing site visitors to do now. If the entry information start to get hefty like say Romeyn Falls then yea, sure, by all means let's do a full page entry. --Infobroker (talk) 14:02, 18 October 2013 (PDT)

Okay! Even these very basic tables quickly went beyond the ease of building a very very basic wikiTable. I have built templates for the Neighborhoods page. Please see the Template:rowNeighborhood for some documentation on how to use.

I have NOT built templates for the other soon-to-former-sub-categories. I am not too sure I will need to. The content and information we have been building has been basic, So I am thinking with some minor tweaks, the templates for Neighborhoods can become more generic in scope and use. The outroTable already is generic. Give me some time to try it out on some of the others. In the meantime, this neighborhoods page is ready to absorb the remaining neighborhoods. Feel free to edit them.

The following soon-to-be-former-sub-categories now have their own table page, primed and using the generic templates. I have not had time to build how-to docs for the two new "genTab" templates, but their usage should be self-evident and they work the same as their neighborhood counterparts (which should now be considered deprecated).

Neighborhoods, Streets, Governments, Businesses, Entertainment and Media, Other Locations (which should fold in both Other Locations and Non-Astro City...). I am envisioning that we will have "break-out" pages for some of these as time goes no, especially some of the Landmarks pages, which I am leaving without a merge-in page for now. This too is part of the maturing process for the site.

Feel free to begin the process of merging anytime.

Upon further reflection, Landmarks now has a merge-in page. Anyone and everyone is welcome to do "breakout" pages of separate topics within Landmarks, or any other of the merge-in pages topics.
