Long before Europeans ever set foot in the area, he walked the land as a protector of the innocent. Powers He would appear to mot entirely human -or perhaps there's no 'entirely' about it -- he resembled a humanoid coyote, his face a mirror image of the coyote-skin cowl that framed it. He wielded a bow and arrows. Speculations, Theories Coyotl' is the Nahuatl word for the coyote. (The word 'coyote' is in fact derived from it.) Since Nahuatl was spoken only in South America, Coyotl's name suggests some form of contact or connection with that continent.
