: I'm appending Sideliner as a category. It is there exclusively for characters that have been directly identified as somehow associated with the Sideliner "fraternity."  That means they have somehow linked to and have communication with Mattie and others.  It is not a category in  generic sense.  It is for any character that is explicitly mentioned in the pages of Astro City as a "sideliner."  Don't put random characters in the list, not even those that don't seem like they have or choose to have an alignment.  No I don't think of them as a team in any form.  There are like I said earlier, a fraternity or association.  But they are linked.

Guess, I should have looked this over first before editing... Did you still want this page title with a capital S or have it like the group does with a lower case s? The only other one like this(so far) is the iGod, which with being the play on iPod works for me staying the way it is...

Latest revision as of 00:42, 2 July 2015

The issue doesn't make it clear whether "sideliners" is an actual group name, in which case the S would be capitalized, or merely a colloquial descriptor, like "metalheads" or "foodies," in which case the S wouldn't. I've erred on the side of caution here.

What I am about to talk about is going to need one of these...

SpoilerAlert2.jpg

This Herocopia entry discusses events that occurred in an issue of Astro City Comics published within the last 90 days.

Feel free to "comment out" this alert anytime after the conclusion of the Broken Man Arc.

What you have put on the page explains them perfectly. That's what counts. Besides the page title is a Title. Those need capitalization. Anyway that is my take on it.

Once I read the first few pages (the night before release), I was already toying with what to do to designate Sully. To then find out there were more like her meant we were going to need some kind of "marker" for them here on Herocopia. Immediately I'm thinking we should add a category, but what to call it and how to present it so it doesn't spoil things.

The story fixed the category name problem, I suggest we go ahead and give them

[[Category: Sideliners]]

but I won't surface that to the sidebar until after December 2013 (if ever).

I don't think they see themselves as actual group when using the term. I am not even sure they could be classified as fraternity. But they are a "brotherhood." They do get together for events. They have established communication networks. They take care of each other. They are most definitely a community. And deep down inside, while they are not show-offs like Starpower, their heart and actions qualifies them quite directly as heroes.

Anyway, that's my take on them, I loved this issued!

I'm appending Sideliner as a category.
I am adding the "sideliner" entry to the sidebar because I sense that the Broken Man arc isn't done with them, and I want casual readers to be able to find out more about them in a very direct manner.

I think its fine until the Broken Man's arc is over with to help readers and newcomers looking at the site. But for simple classification, I think they belong under Team and/or Civilian Groups category, even if they aren't a true "team." --Astrozac (talk) 14:44, 3 March 2014 (PST)
I can see your viewpoint on this sorta, but I'll reiterate, I don't think they see themselves as a group, they sure don't fit the confines of others that we've put into the Civilian Groups category. This infers too much and rather than simplify, the double categorizing serves to confuse.--Infobroker (talk) 21:03, 4 March 2014 (PST)
I tried an experiment with putting pretty much all this content on the category page for Sideliners. Once done, it felt all wrong and out of place. I am eliminating the category Sideliners. I will promote them directly on the main page in another manner. Sorry for the confusion. --Infobroker (talk) 21:18, 4 March 2014 (PST)
They're one that straddles too many lines. One of the great things about the series...Can't wait to see how Winged Victory's story turns out.
I mainly use the term groups for a sub-category to show that they are a group (or team) of something, whether, civilians or villains for visitor reference. So they all get listed on the main Civilians page, but also in the sub-category. Yes, they're not an official team or group, but they provided their own unofficial classification name.--Astrozac (talk) 06:38, 5 March 2014 (PST)
