Of course that got me to thinking, who's to say she is not "'''THE''' world's foremost superhero period?"  Yea, I know Samaritan has all that empyrean stuff coursing through his veins, but hey, Winged Victory can channel a near endless stream of female energy from all the ages.  Have we seen her at anything close to her full capabilities?

:Foremost, could describe most powerful, the first line of defense or the most well known, which Samaritan would seem to be. Winged Victory might be more on the infamous side. I would probably still give the nod to Samaritan, as we've seen with hyper sonic traveling(which Kurt said in the letter columns about issue six, WV didn't have). <br>

Frankly, I’m not even sure Infidel knows what Winged Victory’s real name is. He was trying to get some sort of reaction from Samaritan in that story, with personal comments, and whether he was hoping to get Samaritan to correct him and reveal private information or just get under his skin by annoying him, he’s not really an authoritative source."''

Gender Qualification[edit]

This is becoming one of my favorite entries on the Website (along with Jack-in-the-Box, Confessor, Astra and Blue Knight). I love the updates and I've had fun with the images.

However, I twitched a bit when I read " Lauren's new identity became the world's foremost female superhero."

Why the qualifier? Why not cast her as "one of the world's foremost superheroes" and drop the gender patronizing?

Of course that got me to thinking, who's to say she is not "THE world's foremost superhero period?" Yea, I know Samaritan has all that empyrean stuff coursing through his veins, but hey, Winged Victory can channel a near endless stream of female energy from all the ages. Have we seen her at anything close to her full capabilities?

I don't plan to change the entry (at least not right now), just sharing some thinking and stirring some discussions.

Foremost, could describe most powerful, the first line of defense or the most well known, which Samaritan would seem to be. Winged Victory might be more on the infamous side. I would probably still give the nod to Samaritan, as we've seen with hyper sonic traveling(which Kurt said in the letter columns about issue six, WV didn't have).
At the same time, though her identity is tied into being "the female hero," so to speak, so the qualifier does make some sense...
I'm more interested in why she went from being Kristin, to Lauren Freed...

My point is we don't refer to Samaritan as the foremost (or whatever) male superhero. Or if you really want to tie it to source of origin (not my point) we don't refer to him as the world's foremost empyrean superhero.
Re: Kristin/Lauren Freed... it struck me as of trivial interest while reading the tale, but *shrugs shoulders*
I think there is still the potential for a much larger and untapped energy source that Winged Victory can call upon. We haven't seen it, it might destroy her in the process of calling upon it, but it is there. I also don't think she has ever employed in an infamous fashion. --Infobroker (talk) 21:53, 21 December 2013 (PST)

What is in a name...[edit]

" “Lauren Freed”—but Infidel called her “Kristen.” (Maybe she changed her name when she embarked upon her new life?)

He didn’t call her Kristen, actually, he asked if her name was Kristen, as if he was having trouble remembering it. He was wrong, though.

Frankly, I’m not even sure Infidel knows what Winged Victory’s real name is. He was trying to get some sort of reaction from Samaritan in that story, with personal comments, and whether he was hoping to get Samaritan to correct him and reveal private information or just get under his skin by annoying him, he’s not really an authoritative source."
