The Trenchers
A persistent, malevolent enemy of Monstro City and its residents. They laid siege to Monstro City shortly before November of 1996. The violence and destruction turned the citizens into refugees that fled into the watery ocean wildernesses.
Speculations, Theories
It is quite possibly they live in the ocean trenches, hence the name.
