Caplinville

A small farming community, a few hours east of Astro City by train.

History

A rural town that features down home friendly attitudes where everyone knows everyone. While it doesn't have the hustle and bustle of Astro City's marquee lights, Caplinville does have its own benefits.

One of them is the "Local Hero" Roustabout, who is on a first-name basis with most of the residents of the area, even the crusty farmer Mr. DeBeck. In 2003 Team Carnivore attacked the area and did battle before Roustabout allied with the townspeople helped capture the group.

One of the hotspots of Caplinville are the Dogpatch Building which houses the local goods store and a bevy of gossip. Another is the Fontaine Fairgrounds, which houses semi-annual carnivals throughout the year, which enables everybody in the community to all get together in one place a couple of times a year.

Speculations, Theories

Beings as the "Tri-State Great Plains" Carnival visits, it could likely put Caplinville in eastern Nebraska or Western Iowa.

Footnotes

The name of Caplinville is a tribute to Li'l Abner creator Al Capp whose real name was Al Caplin.
The resident Mr. DeBeck is a reference to comic strip artist Billy DeBeck.
The Dogpatch Building is a reference to the fictional setting of Capp's Li'l Abner, while the Fontaine Fairgrounds is possibly a nod to Fontaine Fox, the comic strip creator of Toonerville Folks.
