Commander Flint

A top-ranking member of E.A.G.L.E. A man of severe, no-nonsense demeanor, he regards superheroes in general with a certain amount of distrust.

History

Alongside various superheroes, Flint led an E.A.G.L.E. team in the investigation of the mysterious doorway hovering over the Gaines River in Astro City. He ordered jets to fire missiles at it in an attempt to break through, but they were intercepted by Samaritan and several other superheroes, who feared splash-back damage to the gathering witnesses. Eventually Ambassador Telseth just as mysteriously emerged from the doorway, requesting a guide to humanity. Flint insisted it be an E.A.G.L.E. man but was refused and accepted the situation based on the fact there was nothing E.A.G.L.E. could do about it. ("Through Open Doors (Part One)")

Speculations, Theories

  • His face, hair, and eyebrows together have a subtle but distinct hawkish look. Just the comic keeping with the bird-of-prey theme, or is there some connection to the Hawk family, who too have E.A.G.L.E. ties?
  • It's unclear whether Flint commands all of E.A.G.L.E., which would make him the modern day counterpart to Flannery Hawk, or just a division or branch.
