Story Synopses © Juke Box Productions The Eagle and the Mountain The Eagle and the Mountain was first published in Astro City Special: Samaritan. Synopses The Infidel, a time-travelling alchemist turned super-villain, and the super-powered super-hero Samaritan realize that they are both evenly matched adversaries, and that it is a waste of their time and efforts repeatedly fighting one another since they can always alter the reality timeline, undoing whatever the other has done. Therefore, they agree to stop frivolously fighting one another, and instead alternately host an annual meeting at a location of their choice, to interact, monitor, and observe the others actions and behaviors. During the course of this story's meeting, Infidel realizes that they are both slowly wearing down the other, much like the Eagle in the legend of the Eagle and the Mountain. Notes
