Pete Donacek The Senior Doormen at the Classic Hotel. History A former minor league hockey player who moved to Astro City in 1988. He bounced around from odd job to odd job until he landed work as a Doormen at the Astro City Classic Hotel. Initially, he at neutral feelings about living in Astro City with all of the heroes, villains and other assorted supernatural happenings, until one night he wandered down the wrong alley. Ragged Tom and his Ragamuffins were ready to pounce on Pete, when the Confessor came to his rescue. The incident shook Pete and he decided to hightail it out of Astro City once he had enough money to set down roots elsewhere. But in 1991, on the verge of having the funds to leave, an ancient tribe of demi-gods called the Destructoids awoke and rampaged through Astro City. Pete saved a young girl from falling debris during the giant gods battle with Honor Guard. While it re-aggravated his old hockey injury and forced him to use a cane, the experience gave Pete a new insight about this metropolis called Astro City. In that moment, it had become his city and in a very special way. Today Pete serves as the senior bellman at the Classic. He likes to look out for and take care of the newcomers to the city, pointing them to tourist spots as well as keeping tabs on media reports of where the hot spots and danger zones are.
