Need for a Team infobox template?[edit]

I was starting on the Reflex 6 page and saw that the character template infobox had a lot of stuff not pertaining to teams or groups and you couldn't add in necessary things like team members. Here would be a rough idea for a team/group template infobox...

|Box title =

|image = Image:Example.jpg
|status       = Active || Inactive || Disbanded
|debut =
|firstapp =
|baseops =
|rangeops =
|members =

|headlines =
|appearances =

One other thing is I noticed was debut. We previously used debut and a first appearance on the infodump. First appearance was used for the actual issue they first appeared and debut we used for what year they appeared. A bit redundant when you can look down and see when someone/thing made their first appearance under appearances, but I think we did it that way for people that had been mentioned/name dropped, who had yet to appear or later appeared and we had it down where they were first mentioned. (I think we decided if they appeared in the first six issue mini, we'd leave out a first mention...)--Astrozac (talk) 13:50, 2 September 2013 (PDT)

Looking on the way back machine, we used debut for actual first issue appearance and used first appearance/earliest known appearance for appearance in world year. --Astrozac (talk) 14:54, 2 September 2013 (PDT)

re: debut[edit]

  1. In my haste to get this site back up and running ASAP and with as much content as possible, I did a TON of jam editing. Post-it and go kinds of stuff.
  2. I would like to see a bit more discussion on debut. I've been hit-n-miss on its usage when repopulating. Some characters seem to benefit, others not so much, still others it was oversight or I didn't have time to go looking. Cool thing about these templates is their flexibility. It won't display if you leave a parameter blank.
  3. A list of guidelines for debut seems appropriate. Let's see how things shake out over the coming months.

re: optional options[edit]

...or how to make a list of team members when using this template

In constructing this template, I made it lean heavily to the needs of an individual character for content and topics, yet it is also very flexible, and yes you can indeed add a option for team members. I did it for Apollo11.

|PD1title = Members:
|PD1info = Garrison, Carruthers, McCaleb, eight others so far unnamed

Each section of the infobox (AstroFacts, PersonalData, and InfoDump) have three of these title-info pairs. We can add more if needed. We can also promote an Optional-option to permanent-option if we find the particular topic keeps cropping up. The difference between these is you must provide a title (which can be anything you want it to be) to go along with the info, and you must pair the names correctly

If it warrants it, I can see Team templates as something that will probably be built in the future. I am OK with using this one template for now, and see if the need is strong enough for doing a team one. Right now, having to maintain just this one template, and given the amount of common overlap of topics, I am (for now) favoring postponing that work. But I am very interested in hearing discussion pro-and-con for adding it at some point in time.

I haven't spent time documenting these optional-option parameters, mainly because of the complexity of explaining them. I don't want to overwhelm newcomers. But, yes the need to document these nine parameters is necessary and is on the todo list.

It's good for now, once I figured out how to mess around with it, it was easy. There probably aren't more than 15 teams or groups(right now at least) and apart from the Unholy Alliance, not many villain groups that it would apply to. If anything it would just be a simpler version of the character template.

Debuts- I guess using first/earliest appearance from in the in-world perspective sounds better and and debuts as for first comic appearance works. Probably that's why we had it that way. But you could argue the other way sounds better too...Or do we need both in the infobox?

And/or should we just drop the first time they're name dropped in the infobox, after they finally appear? Take the Five Fists I just worked on for example. They first appeared in the Silver Agent Special #1, but were mentioned in the Visitors Guide. There was some reason I liked having both. I don't know if it was characters who got mentioned and built up like Confessor and Pale Horseman, so people could see where they were first mentioned, or what.

Mainly I was just asking so everything says consistent and save us time going back over articles...

re: Debut and First Appearance[edit]

I will be adding Earliest Known Appearance as a parameter in this template (soon). This is an in-world date reference.

Debut will be an issue number reference. Keeping both first mentioned(if applicable) and first in-panel appearance issue references is my preference. (This is a guideline - not a rule)
