The Enelsians
The Enelsians are a shape shifting race of aliens, with a matriarchal power structure.
History
Their early interstellar history is one of mistakes and failures. Eventually they matured out of that stage into a race of interplanetary conquerors with a desire to take down the Galactic Council.
Their attack on Earth was spearheaded by a "fifth column" of spies, the earliest of these was an elderly gentleman known as Mr. Bridwell. They also impersonated officials in powerful government positions, weakening Earth's defenses and creating discourse of trusted institutions and highly respected individuals.
By the time the actual invasion occurred authorities (either infiltrated Enelsians or duped earthlings) had outlawed super-powered heroes, with orders to lock them up, or if they show any signs of resistance, shoot them on sight.
After the Confessor revealed the ruse, they were eventually forced to retreat.
Powers
- Portions of their natural form bear some physical similarities to the earthen insect order called Mantodea, of which the Mantis is the largest and most familiar. In fact, their biological forms and technical devices seem to perform very much in the same manner as insects. Further, their exterior skeletons, their blood cells, even their machines and vehicles are powered by a liquid material that behaves very much like the hemolymph liquid that constitutes the blood of earth's insects.
- Their spaceships have a very organic structure. Perhaps mechanical at the core, but with an overlay of living material. Maybe an alien life form captured and genetically manipulated by the Enelsians, or a derivative species of their originating planet. Either way, when they are damaged, they "bleed" a greenish material, and emit an noise that resembles screams of pain.
Speculations, Theories
The policing actions of the Galactic Council seems to have neutralized their abilities and powers to invade other planets, but given the vastness of space, and the shape-shifting skills of the Enelsians, one can never too sure.
