HistoryIn 1959, Max O' Millions brought together a group of fellow heroes to combat the Legions of Midnight. The group decided to stay together as Honor Guard. At the time, most people weren't sure if the group would stay together very long. Shortly afterward, the team allied with the Bouncing Beatnik and the Old Soldier to prevent Shirak the Devourer's worshipers from freeing their master in our dimension, in a case that was never confirmed until years later. ("The Scoop"). 1973 proved to be one of the tougher years for the group and losing a two of their own. The infamous events leading up to the death of the Silver Agent were tragic and hurt, but not as much as the the ploy of El Hombre in April 1973. Hiring the Assemblyman to help create a robot that would attack Los Angeles, El Hombre set up a battle where he was the only one who could save the day. But the Assemblyman double crossed El Hombre and he was unable to stop the out of control robot with several lives lost. Eventually the group was called in, after tracking everything back to the Assemblyman, they discovered El Hombre's involvement in setting up the plot. El Hombre, now wanted was ruined and tarnished as a hero, never again coming back into the public light and only helped set the stage for the turbulent times for the heroes during the 1970s. By 1995, the team's roster consisted of the Black Rapier, Samaritan, the second Quarrel, MPH, the second Cleopatra, the N-Forcer, and Beautie, a line-up that would remain stable for many years to come. 1997 saw the Enelsian Invasion in which Honor Guard played a major role in repelling the invading aliens. Even while the public at large was starting to distrust the superhero community and the government had the group's headquarters cordoned off, the heroes never gave up on the world. With the brunt of the Enelisans attack on Astro City, most of the group were positioned there alongside the city's other heroes. Working together, the group staved off the attack and with the help of Augustus Furst, the heroes went on the offensive driving away the aliens. By 2013, Winged Victory, the Gentleman, and Wolfspider had joined. That year, the team thwarted Lord Volcanus's take-over attempt on the surface world and fought Kroseth the Invader. ("Welcome to HumanoGlobal") Joined by the Assemblyman, they also laid siege to the Skullcrushers' hidden HQ in Ecuador. Members were finally able to get inside when the Assemblyman created a portal by homing in on the ID badge of Honor Guard employee Marella Cowper, who was within. It is invisible from the ground and too most aircraft. It brims with advanced technologies, including cloaking technology, shielded armor made of high density, heavily reinforced alloyed metals including itt's sensors which make sure that it moves out of the way of any other aircraft. The Techsperts managed to break into once, but security upgrades were made and the former supervillain Steeljack has been the only person or group that has managed to since then.
Repli-Matrix: A crystal seized from Tritonian slavers early in Honor Guard's career. The device possesses replication powers of some sort, and Honor Guard regularly used it for reconstruction purposes after super-battles. Some time prior to late 2001, the alien conqueror Kroseth IV of Antares merged his essence with the Repli-Matrix. Though he then escaped the device the next time it was used, it is unknown whether Honor Guard has permanently retired the crystal in light of these events.
